The Custom Vent Hood Company owner Glenn Vogel is a master
at metal fabrication and metal sculpture. He has over 35 years experience
working with both ferrous (steel) as well as non ferrous (aluminum, brass,
bronze, copper, stainless steel, titanium and zinc) materials. In 1997,
Glenn created
Got Metal? a design and fabrication
studio specializing in high end utilitarian art and sculpture. Glenn
specialized in smaller high end projects that required particular attention to
detail. Glenn’s background in aerospace machining, combined with his
passion for art makes Got Metal? a very
diverse custom fabrication studio.
In 2006, as the demand for Glenn’s work increased, the
growing business moved into a new 15,000 foot facility in Golden, Colorado.
The facility is close in proximity to the Coors Brewery on Clear Creek. In
2007, Glenn created The Custom Vent Hood Company to accommodate a steady increase in
requests for unique kitchen ventilation components. His custom vent hood designs are
world class, and in 2008, Glenn’s work for Shaw Construction at Arrabelle at
Vail Square was selected to receive the coveted Building of America Award
for the bronze and stainless steel vent hoods installed there.
In 2007, Glenn designed and built the families current residence in
Evergreen, Colorado. The progressive home has been featured on HGTV, the Fine Living Network, and the DIY Network. The residence features a state of the art 800 square
foot commercially equipped kitchen. Glenn wrapped the kitchen around his
love of cooking, and at the center is a 60” 165,000 BTU Imperial natural gas
range. This arrangement has been the catalyst for the products that Glenn now
designs and fabricates… his own kitchen is where the research and development of
his products takes place. You will see several different hoods
photographed in Glenn’s kitchen… he is insistent that any product that he
recommends is a product that he has used.
A green range hood?
The Custom Vent Hood Company goes to great lengths to use premium materials that
are not only recycled, but are sourced from companies that do their part to have
a minimal impact on the environment. Over 96% of the raw materials that we
use are recycled. Our products are shipped in boxes that contain at least
50% recycled cardboard, and we only use packaging suppliers that are certified
by the SFI, the Sustainable Forest Industry.
Glenn designs every vent hood, follows it through
construction, assembly and finish. After all, it has his name on it.
